1. Time out and Team UP
2. Recipe: Prawns and Broccoli Stir Fry

Dear Reader

Good golly, it can’t be the middle of February already, can it? And this enewsletter is at least still in February. If it takes any longer there won’t be one this month! For those of you a bit worried that you have fallen off the system because you have finished working with me, it’s all okay. The problem is with me not writing it, not you.

I have hit the dance floor this year, and been doing Salsa, Zouk, Argentine Tango, Modern Jive – also known as Le Step, and Rock’n Roll. Phew, it is a lot and I am loving it. I love Argentine Tango and will continue with it this time. It’s only about my 4th beginner Tango class and every time I go back after a couple of years’ break, I hear myself say, “I don’t remember them teaching that last time!”  so you can see how important it is to always revisit your early or beginning notes and refresh your memory.

If you have been thinking of learning to dance, I thoroughly recommend it as you learn how to lead, or what to expect from your leader, and how to be a good follower, co-ordination that switches your brain on, rhythm and flow – so good for timing issues. Ooh that just gave me a big AH HA moment! I over-think and over-anticipate and can get ahead of the lead…. and in life, I can also go too fast and forget to slow down and work to someone else’s desired pace. Interesting isn’t it, that we can continue to learn from life, dance classes or avoidance of house-cleaning…

1. Reclaim your Sleep

On Sunday, I attended a Reclaim Your Sleep day seminar by Aaron McLoughlin, which was excellent. He’s a warm, knowledgeable and humourous presenter and so like Jim Carey the actor, that it’s a little freaky!

There are a couple of things that I have not included when working with clients with sleep problems, so I am looking forward to adding these extras in for great rest.

Warmest wishes, Narelle

Creating your Team

by Narelle Stratford

You do realise that your life is a reflection of you, don’t you? what happens outside of you is merely a reflection of what is going on inside of you, so if you are feeling stuck it is important to look at what is happening outside of yourself, or to see where you are stuck in the body.

For example, I have been avoiding housework of late. I know I know, just see it finished and feel good about that … and I just didn’t do it. So I got to thinking about housecleaning or housekeeping being a metaphor for some internal work that might be required. (Gee that was a challenge to find words that avoided “needs or must or should”!)

I’ve decided to meditate more and that will clean up the internal stuff, and that energises me to deal with the external jobs with joy and delight. (Or, does anyone know of a good house-keeper, by the way?)

It’s also important to have a good team around you, who will support you, motivate you and encourage you and help you to be accountable. My team includes my dentist George, Peak-Physique for training, Paulette Walker for Osteo and chiropractic support, Greg Scanlon for acupuncture, my accountant Gita from Focus On Figures, Di Watson from Brisbane Circle and so on. These are people whom I trust to take care of my body and my business, so that I don’t have to do everything alone.

If you are doing everything alone, you need to maintain a strong mind and heart by loving and approving of yourself and encouraging yourself so that your subconscious, your inner child feels loved and supported.  it’s also important to have time out, where you laugh and have fun, and reward yourself (just not with food, drugs or alcohol.)

Find something that soothes and nurtures your soul – dancing does that for me – and you will be energised time and time again. Even if you are a bit physically tired, you remind yourself how good this makes you feel, and once again you can get lost in your soul’s passion.

Down time – doing NOTHING – is also highly recommended. I suggest you take holidays more frequently and don’t take big chunks of time off because when you do your inner child usually loses all sense of structure, and finds it hard to reestablish that structure when you go back to work.

Strangely enough, when you take time out and go on holidays, you usually find that you have trouble settling down for the first few days, and then you get into the groove of doing nothing, and then creative ideas begin to pop! So, want more creativity? Take more time off!

I think I need time off again, because I just ran out of ideas!!

Have fun, Live Life 2 the Max!

2. Health Tip: Prawns and Broccoli Stir Fry

I made this and it was so good!
*  Quantity of whole green prawns, heads on or off, your choice.
*  Garlic, Broccoli and other vegies
*  Sweet chilli sauce
Heat your wok with a couple of tablespoons light oil (grape seed is good) and stir fry over high heat: 4 cloves of sliced garlic, 1 head of broccoli florets, prawns, a couple of tablespoons sweet chilli sauce, sliced capsicum, 1 cob of fresh corn – slice the corn off into the wok; and juice of 1 lemon.
If some things are cooked and some not quite, then when almost cooked put a lid on top and turn the heat down and cook for a further minute or two, making sure broccoli is still bright green and firm.
Serve with brown rice (get that started about 30 minutes before the stir fry so it has a chance to cook, and serve together for a delicious healthy meal.
